Dell laptops generally come with a pre-installed application known as Dell DataSafe Local Backup, with an executable extension file of toaster.exe. The file’s function is to backup data stored on your laptop. Once backup is completed, you may choose to disable the file. Disabling is the best option to stop the file from running with PC boot, because uninstalling it could affect your laptop’s performance. The file can generally be located in the following file path: C:\Program Files\Dell DataSafe Local Backup\toaster.exe. Average file size is 1.68 MB for file version 1.0.1.52. This version uses about 30.52 MB of RAM space, and approximately 215.68 MB of committed memory. The file is also associated with a process from Hewlett-Packard known as Hewlett-Packard Setup Manager. The file is launched as a scheduled task, serving as a notifier for users to undertake specific setup tasks. This file is published by Microsoft. File size is 27.55 KB for version 1.1.13476.3753. File’s general location is C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Setup Manager\toaster.exe.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. toaster.exe. is used by Dell DataSafe Local Backup/HP Setup Manager, If you shut down toaster.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop toaster.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Dell DataSafe Local Backup/HP Setup Manager, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Dell DataSafe Local Backup/HP Setup Manager, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
