What is tnslsnr.exe
The tnslsnr.exe process, a type of an executable file, refers to the Oracle TNS Listener, which is a component of the program Oracle Database, particularly the versions 10g Express and 10g Express Edition, and is developed by Oracle. The Oracle TNS Listener application enables the communication between the server of the Oracle Database and other servers, while the tnslsnr.exe file is the host for this program, by storing IP addresses to the database or servers, where it is connected. This file must remained running in the system when the Oracle Database program is launched, so other clients are able to connect to it, since a port on the host system is opened, and listens for any communications request. Therefore, the Oracle Database is useless without the TNS Listener, because clients or other servers won’t be able to connect to it. Other than 10g Express and 10g Express Edition, Oracle Database is now also available in a more current versions, which are11g Standard Edition, 11g Standard Edition One, and 11g Enterprise Edition.
