The tandpl.sys file is an executable process integrated with certain EXE files, other SYS driver files, DLL component files and associated program files that are needed by some video games developed for Windows-based systems for implementing the CD and DVD protection functionalities integrated into its CD and DVD installation packages. Some of these games that use the tandpl.sys process include Beyond Good & Evil among others. The tandpl.sys file is packaged into these CD installer distributions, which also means the tandpl.sys file is integrated into the installer program of the associated video game or into the system upon the installation of the video game application. The tandpl.sys file also facilitates system checks done by this video game component, in order to verify that the program CD or DVD being used during gameplay is a legitimate and licensed copy of the video game.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tandpl.sys. is used by Beyond Good & Evil, If you shut down tandpl.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop tandpl.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Beyond Good & Evil, from your system.
