What is sysaudio.sys
The file sysaudio.sys, known as System Audio WDM Filter, belongs to software Microsoft Kernel System Audio Device from Microsoft. This driver relates to the functionality of the Kernel Mode WDM Audio component SysAudio System Driver. This driver builds the filter graph that renders and captures audio content. It represents audio filter graphs as virtual audio devices and registers each virtual audio device as an instance of a KSCATEGORY_AUDIO_DEVICE device interface. The client communicates only with the virtual audio device rather than with the individual devices that make up the virtual audio device. SysAudio's clients include Direct Sound and the WDMAud system driver. WDMAud is the interface between WDM Audio drivers and the audio specific Microsoft Windows Multimedia API waveIn, waveOut, midiIn, midiOut, mixer, and aux. SysAudio takes stock of the registered audio hardware and software components in order to determine how to construct the various audio filter graphs that its client may require.
