What is  symefa.sys

Symantec Extended File Attributes is a program that is launched through the symefa.sys file, and is part of the EFA software from Symantec. The file is the system driver file for the EFA software and as such, it is necessary to keep the file installed as well as enabled. The EFA software meanwhile, is part of Norton Internet Security and in this regard, it is also recommended that EFA be left running in the way that it was designed to run: as an application of Norton Internet Security running in the background. In other words, for the PC to get the full benefits of Norton Internet Security, the file symefa.sys should be left enabled because it is the driver that executes EFA when the system starts up and while the computer is running. The symefa.sys file is usually installed in the System 32 folder of Windows in C drive, as such; C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\symefa.sys.
