Otherwise known as Symantec Data Store or SymDS, the symds.sys process is a driver file that is a part of the program Symantec Endpoint Protection, a product created and digitally signed (Symantec Time Stamping Services Signer - G3) by Symantec Corporation. The software Endpoint Protection is powered by Insight, considered as a useful solution against viruses, Trojans, and spyware, and definitely the means to improve the performance of the computer system. With its state-of-the-art defense and technology, Symantec’s Endpoint Protection has distinctive and advantageous features, which include the elimination of viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, bots and other malicious threats, the prevention of security or network outbreaks, and the protection of physical and virtual environments. It basically integrates all the important and necessary tools that secure and fight all types of viruses and malware, without causing any damage or poor performance of the system. As a component of the antivirus program, the symds.sys file is simply an essential tool bundled in it.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. symds.sys. is used by Symantec Endpoint Protection, If you shut down symds.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop symds.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Symantec Endpoint Protection, from your system.
