Macromedia ColdFusion contains the process swsoc.exe. The swsoc.exe file launches the functionalities that are related to the scripting language Coldfusion Markup Language (CFML). Aside from supporting the programming language, swsoc.exe provides other features to the user, upon execution in the system. These features include Simplified Database Access, Client and Server Cache Management, Client-Side Code Generation, Conversion from HTML to PDF and FlashPaper, Data Retrieval from Enterprise Systems and Data Formats, File Indexing and Searching Service, Administration of GUI, Server Clustering, Task Scheduling, Graphs and Reports, Manipulation of Files such as raster graphics, CAPTCHA and zip archives, Implementation of Web Service, and others. The swsoc.exe file helps program developers to create personalized applications, to use enterprise data and infrastructure services together with .NET and Java support, to produce PDF files and printable forms in order to capture and share information, and to work with Microsoft Exchange server to do basic tasks such as reading, creating, changing calendar events, and others.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. swsoc.exe. is used by Macromedia ColdFusion, If you shut down swsoc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop swsoc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Macromedia ColdFusion, from your system.
