Swg.dll provides the dynamic link library to the Google Toolbar Notifier software. Google Toolbar Notifier goes hand in hand with Google Toolbar. It provides the actual search settings notifier feature of the toolbar. This feature assigns Google to be the default search engine. It does not permit other users to change the setting without the consent of the original user. Google Toolbar Notifier gets installed together with Google Toolbar. The Google Toolbar offers personalized features. It features include a search window, a pop-up blocker, form autofiller, a translation utility, a spell checker and a map tool. The toolbar belongs to the Google suite, which includes Google Earth, Google News, Froogle, Google Maps, Blogger, among others. The toolbar can be customized and in its new version, the user is enabled to click a button once and single words or the entire Web page can be translated. So if the user has a Google account, the Google Toolbar may be necessary to install in the computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. swg.dll. is used by Google Toolbar Notifier, If you shut down swg.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop swg.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Google Toolbar Notifier, from your system.

Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
