The supserv.exe file is an executable process included with the other executable program files, DLL modules, system drivers and associated resource components that are used and referenced by the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software, which is a Windows program classified as a Sony Ericsson mobile phone synchronization tool that can allow users to connect their supported Sony Ericsson mobile phones to compatible Windows-based systems, transfer data to and from their handsets and computers, install certain applications into their Ericsson mobile phones from their Windows-based computers and configure certain settings of their handsets from their computers among other features. The supserv.exe process is included in the installer distribution packages of the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software, which means the supserv.exe file is placed in the system upon the successful installation of the Sony Ericsson PC Suite program. The supserv.exe process is specifically deployed as part of the Sony Ericsson OMSI Download Service module, which is an applet built into the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software. This means the Sony Ericsson PC Suite program may activate the supserv.exe process in order to load the functionalities of the Sony Ericsson OMSI Download Service module unto the system upon user request.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. supserv.exe. is used by Sony Ericsson PC Suite and Sony Ericsson OMSI Download Service Module, If you shut down supserv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop supserv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Sony Ericsson PC Suite and Sony Ericsson OMSI Download Service Module, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Sony Ericsson PC Suite and Sony Ericsson OMSI Download Service Module, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
