The softmon.exe process is the executable file for LANDesk Software Monitor, a software security solution which allows the users monitoring control over the security status of their computers, and updates for antivirus program, email, spyware, and firewall protection. LANDesk supports systems management, service management, security management, management solutions for organizations, and assets management. It is among the oldest companies that provide this kind of product. The LANDesk software runs well with devices running on Windows, Mac, and Linux. The PC's status security is determined by the anti-virus state and firewall protection. LANDesk Software Monitor may be switched on and off and may become outdated without being checked. Sometimes the user may just find out that the security software is not installed in the computer. LANDesk Software Monitor provides an update that the computer is in vulnerable state and the user options. LANDesk Software Monitor offers operation in four areas in the system: • Management of the system’s lifecycle - Management Suite, Inventory Manager, Application Virtualization or more known as the creator of portable application • Endpoint Security Management - Security Suite, Antivirus, Patch Manager • Information Technology Automation - Process Manager • Information Technology Service Management - Service Desk, Asset Lifecycle Manager

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. softmon.exe. is used by Software Monitor, If you shut down softmon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop softmon.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Software Monitor, from your system.
