The smbios.sys process is a driver file developed by Intel Corporation. Intel Corporation is an American multinational semiconductor chip maker corporation which makes devices related to communications and computing. Smbios.sys is a Windows driver, a small software program allowing the computer to communicate with all hardware or any other connected devices. Because of this ability, it can directly access the internals of the operating system, the hardware, and all other applications stored therein. It manages the basic input and output system processes performed by all installed devices and programs and permits an application of the user to save and recover files from the computer system. SMbios.sys also regularly scans and checks for the physical memory of the system and recovers data previously loaded or used during disk start-up, which makes it accessible to various applications if ever there is a need to utilize them again.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. smbios.sys. is used by Intel System Management BIOS, If you shut down smbios.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop smbios.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Intel System Management BIOS, from your system.
