The skdaemon.exe process is an executable file that belongs to the Multimedia Keyboard Manager, particularly the SkDaemon Application, and a product created by Silitek Corporation. As a part of the program, this file is used as shortcuts of special keys of various default applications on the multimedia keyboards, which include the Internet browser (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer), Windows Media Player, Notepad, Volume Control, Calculater, and Search. These multimedia keyboards pertain to the ones installed in Windows operating systems by Microsoft, which include Windows 9x, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows NT4, Windows 2003, Windows XP and Windows Vista. In a much simpler word, the file skdaemon.exe is a launcher that detects, as well as synchronizes Windows OS compatible multimedia keyboards, by calling a host of dlls and exes, and placing them under their respective special keys. Afterwards, it loads default media applications depending on what the user executes. The skdaemon.exe file is not a required Windows component, but needed if a multimedia keyboard is installed in the computer system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. skdaemon.exe. is used by Multimedia Keyboard Manager, If you shut down skdaemon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop skdaemon.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Multimedia Keyboard Manager, from your system.
