What is  search.exe

When a Web browser opens, it launches the search.exe process. The EXE file can install supplemental toolbars found in the browser. Using the search engine allows the search.exe file to take note of the session of the user, the subject of search, sites involved and any other data pertaining to the files being searched. The information collected from the user will be used as reference and will build the history records of the browser. The search.exe file enables the user to go back to a web page where he or she has searched before. It is capable of monitoring the activities of the user by creating a log on all the details pertaining to the Internet use of the user. This process is being utilized by WhenU Search. WhenU Search also records everything about what the user is browsing over the Internet. Then it uses the information on selecting what ads to show the user when logged online.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. search.exe. is used by Daemon Tools WhenU Search Bar, If you shut down search.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
