What is  routernt.exe

Owned and developed by a PC security software vendor Sophos PLC, routerNT.exe is a Sophos messaging system that sends, receives, and manages messages between network servers, desktops, emails and other system gateways. It provides communication service between various system components, with the main purpose of sending and receiving information to and from the server and the network. It queues the messages when the system is down. RouterNT.exe is found in the subfolder of the local system folder (C:\); it has no viewable window, nor it is a Windows system file. The routernt.exe application listens for and/or sends data by the open ports to the Internet or LAN. There was a reported bug in the September 2012 release of one of Sophos software updates which caused several computers to identify the program to be a malware. Generally for all programs, the safest thing that a user can do is to uninstall the program and run a complete system PC scan.
