What is  pythonw.exe

File extension pythonw.exe is part of the software for Python programming language. The file provides users with a process known as ActiveState ActivePython. What the file does is to enable users to create scripts without having to go to the Windows console, or what is more commonly known as the DOS prompt window. The file launches a Graphical User Interface that allows programmers to work around the usual issues encountered when creating Python scripts in Windows console, i.e. being directed to DOS prompt when Python is launched, instead of being allowed to write scripts in normal Windows interface. The file pythonw.exe allows users to work on their scripts outside of Windows console. The file automatically creates programs using the file extension, .pyw so the program can execute directly from Windows Explorer, instead of having to once again use the DOS window, as is the normal way for programs with a .py extension. The file is located in the Program Files folder.
