The pastisvc.exe process is an executable file deployed as the STI Simulator Service module of certain Webcam devices. This means the pastisvc.exe file is packaged with the firmware and driver software components of these supported Webcam devices. The pastisvc.exe process is installed along with the firmware and driver software distributions of the Webcam device, and the pastisvc.exe process is activated by the assocaited firmware and driver software component whenever the STI Simulator Service module needs to be loaded unto the system. The system or an associated application that is bundled with the supported Webcam device may also instruct associated firmware and driver software resources to implement the functionalities of the STI Simulator Service module whenever the user requests access to certain features embedded in the corresponding Webcam device.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. pastisvc.exe. is used by STI Simulator Service Module, If you shut down pastisvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop pastisvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is STI Simulator Service Module, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as STI Simulator Service Module, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
