A Secure Shell implementation program that enables SSH authentication through pageant.exe is from the software PuTTY. The process is actually known as PuTTY SSH authentication agent. The software was developed by Simon Tatham. File version Release 0.62 executes as a 64-bit program compatible with Windows 8 Pro. It has a known file size of 136 KB. The file loads its process through the executable file explorer.exe, which is the Windows Explorer process from Microsoft. The file utilizes approximately 0.00005431% of system resources, and uses up to 8.24 MB of RAM space. There are 81 Graphical Device Interface objects generally used by the file. One known non-system module loaded by the PuTTY suite is dropboxext.14.dll, which is from the Dropbox process from Dropbox. Typical file path is C:\Users\Robert\Apps\PuTTY\pageant.exe. The file runs with the privileges of the user currently logged-in into the system. This file has not been identified as a threat. No system issues or application crashes related to the file were also reported by users.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. pageant.exe. is used by PuTTY SSH authentication agent, If you shut down pageant.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop pageant.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is PuTTY SSH authentication agent, from your system.
