The pa.exe process is a non-system process and the process originated from the software that the user installed on his or her system. This process monitors and logs UPS events (like when the UPS regulates the power because of power dips, over-voltage, or brownout situations) and alerts (power cut). The process performs a controlled shutdown of the computer if the user has configured the Power Alert software to shut the computer down in cases of prolonged power cuts in which the computer is working off the UPS rather than off the mains. This process is also known as the Position Agent. It keeps track of the user’s search engine rankings. This process is not considered to be CPU intensive. The user has the option to enable or disable this process which can be launched at start-up. However, it is advisable to keep this process from being terminated as it might cause the computer system to malfunction. It is considered safe by the users and is not likely to pose any threats.
