The file osd64.exe is a component of the OsdMaestro main program, which is OnScreenDisplay used in many computers including HP, Compaq, and other brands. This application is similar to Touch Manager where pressing a hotkey on the keyboard brings a corresponding panel on the screen. It gives a visible representation of the volume controls onscreen as adjustments are made to the volume setting. Executing this program shows a keyboard onscreen which can be used for managing onscreen settings, but can be ignored without losing any system functionality. These keyboard shortcuts that are mainly seen on HP and Compaq computers run during the startup process, and shows up as osd.exe in the Task Manager. The OSD provides user options to choose either the horizontal or the vertical position of the onscreen menu. Users can choose the menu language with ten options: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Italian, and Chinese.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. osd64.exe. is used by OsdMaestro, If you shut down osd64.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop osd64.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is OsdMaestro, from your system.
