What is  nvtray.exe

Nvtray.exe is the executable file for nVidia System Tray, the program which runs the nVidia System Tools in the notification area in the system tray. Previously called nTune, the NVIDIA System Tools is a group of utilities used for accessing, adjusting, and monitoring system components, including the temperature and voltages of the machine, in user-friendly control panels that resides within Windows, instead of through the BIOS system. Additionally, System Tools contains a feature which automatically adjusts the settings, testing them to find the optimal combined settings for the computer hardware configuration. The CPU, GPU, MCP, RAM, fans and voltage are adjusted, although not all motherboards provide support for these adjustment options. These configurations can be saved, allowing the end-user toggle movement between gaming profiles and quiet profiles for minimum demanding work, or other profiles that are usage-specific. The nVidia System Tray is a front end utility for the BIOS system. Most settings can be changed in the BIOS and are available among included utilities.
