PictureProject Monitor is a process that runs as a background task, which executes through the file nkbmonitor.exe. The file is basically installed on the PC with the software for Nikon digital cameras. According to what users have reported, the file is responsible for enabling the system to recognize your Nikon digital camera once it has been connected to the PC, and also helps with the transfer of photos from the camera to the computer. The file is not regarded as dangerous or a risk to system security. The file may be enabled or disabled according to the user’s discretion or preference. The file is pre-set to run when the system loads during startup. You may disable it if your Nikon camera is not connected to your computer. Remember to enable it before connecting the camera to the machine. Common file path is C:\Program Files\Nikon\PictureProject\nkbmonitor.exe. The process is also sometimes called PictureProject module. This is a valid file from Nikon.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. nkbmonitor.exe. is used by PictureProject Monitor, If you shut down nkbmonitor.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop nkbmonitor.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is PictureProject Monitor, from your system.
