Net1.exe is the process file for the Net Command, a command prompt that is used to manage almost the entire aspect of a network including its settings, network print jobs, users, and network shares. It handles additional functions to the local area network by the DOS command line. The Net Command is represented by two versions, the Net1.exe and the Net.exe. Both are executable files that are developed by Microsoft, and both provide view, update, and fix Windows network settings. These Net Commands are answerable by the Y and N switches in answering Yes and No in a batch file. Net Command is used for managing requesters or networked computers, the servers and its network resources such as network drives, printers, and other devices. Most programs ran by the Net Command are available in GUI style in the Windows operating systems, but as for automating tasks, the Net Command remains the stable and failsafe process.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. net1.exe. is used by Net Command, If you shut down net1.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop net1.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Net Command, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Net Command, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
