Basically termed as Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Service, the navapsvc.exe file is a Windows process and executable type, which is a component of certain antivirus and security software products of Symantec. Digitally signed by VeriSign, navapsvc.exe is an important file bundled in Norton AntiVirus 2002, Norton AntiVirus 2003, Norton AntiVirus 2004, Norton AntiVirus 2005, Norton SystemWorks 2004, Norton SystemWorks 2005 Premier, Norton Internet Security, and Norton AntiVirus Auto Protect. All of these applications are developed to help protect Windows PC from viruses, worms, Trojans and spyware, as well as other Internet or online threats, such as phishing, fraud, identity theft, and scam. Because it is one of the essential components, the navapsvc.exe file must remain running in the background of the computer system. This enables the software to function properly, which is to protect and secure the computer against malicious files and other security risks. Once the program is launched, it automatically scans dangerous files and programs, then delete them to prevent damaging the computer and stealing information.
