The process mydesktopservice.exe is the launcher program for the software Oracle Secure Global Desktop from Oracle. This program is a complete desktop replacement, or what is termed as "the Virtual Desktop." The entire Global Desktop service consists of a complete service that can rival the operating system. The difference is that the Global Desktop Service can be customized according to the users preferences. It can perform various tasks directly from the browser and organize tasks, like printing and encoding. The main advantages of using the Secure Global Desktop is that all activities and applications initiated from the Desktop service can be secured with a password. There is a login requirement and certification process. Thus, it cannot be accessed by other users of the computer, unlike using the installed Operatong System. Another advantage of the Secure Global Desktop is the ability to access other Global Desktop clients.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mydesktopservice.exe. is used by Oracle Secure Global Desktop by Oracle, If you shut down mydesktopservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
