Mwssvc.exe is also known as My Web Search Toolbar and is associated with software My Web Search Service. It is developed by MyWebSearch.com. The mwssvc.exe runs in the background when the user initializes it and it starts to activate My Web Search Service. The software provides the user with a toolbar that he or she can directly install in the web browser. The user can even customize it. Its program allows the user to search from anywhere on the Web. It uses popular Internet search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, Ask.com and LookSmart. The user can also download free applications such as PopSwatter pop-up blocker, Smiley Central, Popular Screensavers and Cursor Mania. My Web Search Service provides the My Info button which allows the user to receive personalized news, sports, weather, money and daily tidbits. Through mwssvc.exe, the user is enabled to create his or her own toolbar buttons and to create more than 200 personalized links.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mwssvc.exe. is used by My Web Search Toolbar, If you shut down mwssvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mwssvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is My Web Search Toolbar, from your system.
