What is  msinfo32.exe

Msinfo32.exe is the file executable for System Information, a software that compiles technical information about the installed hardware, drivers, devices, applications, system software programs, system settings, and kernel extensions that are installed in the host computer. Originally named System Profiler, it exports information as plain text, an RTF, or XML format to diagnose problems. The System Profiler enables the user to send information and messages to Apple directly as desired. It supports scripting automation via the AppleScript and Automator. The System Information utility is derived from the field service diagnostics produced by the Apple's Service Diagnostic Engineering, bundled with the Macintosh operating system when it was then called Apple System Profiler. It was sometime between versions 10.6.8 and 10.7.2 when System Profiler changed its name to System Information. The System Information is also accessed via the "system_profiler" command by the Terminal application. To obtain information from the program itself, the user can try to execute the command system_profiler- h or system_profiler in a system operation terminal application.
