What is msb.exe
The msb.exe process is an executable program file that has been reported as a malicious program associated with the FakeAlert-EL application, which is a known Trojan. Other user reports claim that the msb.exe process has a variant that belongs to the FakeAlert-MA.gen program, another malicious application classified as a Trojan. These user reports state that the msb.exe process has the ability to automatically run during system startup because of certain entries and keys it can create and inject into the Windows System Registry upon its successful placement and activation in the Windows-based system. The same user reports claim that the msb.exe can then operate as a background process, without user consent, during system runtime, in order to search for unprotected TCP/IP network ports and vulnerable Web browsers that it can exploit. Once it finds unprotected TCP/IP network ports, the msb.exe process has been reported to use these system vulnerabilities to initiate contact with Web servers that are managed and operated by the authors of the msb.exe malware item, in order to download more malicious programs unto the system. Upon finding unprotected or outdated Web browsers that it can exploit, the msb.exe process is said to be capable of hijacking its search and homepage settings. Many user reports claim that the main functionality of the msb.exe process is to alert Windows users about the presence of malicious applications in the system, via a prompt that also includes an advertisement of a rogue anti-malware product.
