The mrtrate.sys is a Rate Sensing Driver file that is part of the Rate Sensing Manager application which is being manufactured by Marimba Incorporated. The Rate Sensing Driver file is installed with the QuickBooks programs, specifically Quicken 2001, the new user edition. Marimba specializes in software change and configuration management solutions. It is a subsidiary of BMC Software Incorporated. It has developed a software which Quicken also uses. The mrtrate.sys file helps in delivering the services which Quicken 2001 offers to its user. The software provides the user with tools to manage personal, home and business finances. It can monitor accounts payable and receivable, creates estimates and invoices, and monitors jobs, among others. It helps the user manage his or her financial activities involving banking, investing, taxes, planning, spending and savings, loans and insurance. The mrtrate.sys file enables the user to write checks, print checks and send online payments through the Quicken 2001 software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mrtrate.sys. is used by Rate Sensing Manager, If you shut down mrtrate.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mrtrate.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Rate Sensing Manager, from your system.
