What is  mpk.exe

MyPopupKiller, with executable file mpk.exe, appears to be the main service associated with the software MyPopupKiller from a company known as Refog. The software was developed to manage pop-ups and prevent virus intrusions in the process. The file is usually installed in C:\Windows or C:\Program Files. Its most common file paths are C:\Windows\System 32\MPK\mpk.exe and C:\Program Files\MPK\mpk.exe. Average file size is between 132,385 bytes and 144,776 bytes. While the file’s main purpose is to protect the system from unwanted pop-ups and virus intrusions, there have been several reports made by users claiming that the file is a type of keylogger, where their key strokes were being recorded and then transmitted to a remote computer via the Internet. For this reason, most AV programs have identified the mpk.exe file as a threat to system and user security. Some users have also mentioned that they were unable to uninstall the file. The only way they got rid of it was to do a fresh install of their OS. There were no data found that can dispute these claims made by users.
