The mpfp.sys process is a component program file of the system driver software resources used by the McAfee Personal Firewall Plus software, which is an application that is generally classified as a system security program. The mpfp.sys file is activated and referenced by the system whenever the McAfee Personal Firewall Plus software needs to load certain functionalities unto the system. Upon activation, the mpfp.sys file calls on other associated program files that need to reference particular modular system components and application-specific modules in order to implement the requested functionalities of the McAfee Personal Firewall Plus application. The content of the mpfp.sys file includes program-specific instructions, sequential command lines, modular system resource references and application-specific module directives that are encoded with source code compilation standards normally implemented into files saved in the SYS format.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mpfp.sys. is used by McAfee Personal Firewall Plus and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus Driver Module, If you shut down mpfp.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mpfp.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is McAfee Personal Firewall Plus and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus Driver Module, from your system.
