The mpfagent.exe process is an executable component file of the software called McAfee Personal Firewall, which is an application classified as a system security program. Also known as the McAfee Personal Firewall Agent Interface module, the mpfagent.exe process is specifically built into the McAfee Personal Firewall Agent Interface module as its executable dispatcher file. This means whenever the McAfeee Personal Firewall software requires certain functionalities from the McAfee Personal Firewall Agent Interface module, it activates the mpfagent.exe file in order for this process to initialize other associated program files and reference the data stored in certain modular system resources and application-specific modules. The mpfagent.exe process does this to load the McAfee Personal Firewall Agent Interface module unto the McAfee Personal Firewall software and implement all the embedded functionalities of this module into the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mpfagent.exe. is used by McAfee Personal Firewall and McAfee Personal Firewall Agent Interface, If you shut down mpfagent.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mpfagent.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is McAfee Personal Firewall and McAfee Personal Firewall Agent Interface, from your system.
