What is mediadet.exe
The process mediadet.exe is a Disc Detector background application from Creative Technology Ltd. This background process is associated with some of the features of the sound card drivers like SandBlaster Cards from Creative Lab. The Disc Detector detects when a CD is inserted in the CD-ROM drive and automatically loads the appropriate application for it. It is enabled by default and shows up as an icon in the system tray at the bottom right-hand corner of the desktop. As a background application, it uses up very little power from the computer, but it can still cause some interference when running or installing a program. Since this is a non-essential process and is not a critical component of the operating system, users have the option to disable it or allow it to remain in their computer. It is however advisable for users to run a registry scan to determine if there are errors associated with this application.
