McAfee Security Center Agent is part of the AV software suite from McAfee, installed through the file mcagent.exe. The process automatically executes when you boot your computer. The file runs and checks if your McAfee AV software is up-to-date. It likewise scans for the latest virus outbreaks. If the file finds that you software signature and its applications are not the latest versions available, it calls on another process which is known as MCUPDATE so this process can download the latest updates and install them on the PC. If the AV software is run on a host computer, the file ensures that the end-user computers have the latest McAfee AV updates. This is a vital component of your antivirus software, which is why disabling it is generally not recommended. Having the latest AV updates can ensure that new viruses will also be detected by your antivirus program. The general file path of the process is C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\Agent\mcagent.exe.
