Kensington MouseWorks or Kensington MouseWorks Win32 Support, which comes with file extension kmw_run.exe, is a driver utility file for Kensington mice. It enables the special features of the mouse and its trackball so that the user can more easily manipulate the mouse for navigation purposes, among others. The file is essential only if you have a Kensington mouse connected to the PC; otherwise, you may uninstall it if you will no longer be using your Kensington mouse. Users’ main issue with the file is that it disables their touchpad even if the Kensington mouse is no longer connected to the PC. There were also mentions that the file was detected as a form of spyware but it turned out to be a false alarm. The file’s common path is C:\Windows\System 32\Drivers\kmw_run.exe. This file is enabled to run upon startup so that the mouse can immediately be used after the system completes loading during boot-up.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. kmw_run.exe. is used by Kensington MouseWorks Win32 Support, If you shut down kmw_run.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop kmw_run.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Kensington MouseWorks Win32 Support, from your system.
