A process created by the Sony’s ISB Utility, the isbmgr.exe file supplies a more efficient and secures use of Sony laptop batteries. Its primary concern is the Sony laptop’s power management and the isbmgr.exe file’s task is monitoring the authenticity of Sony laptop batteries. This EXE file is prevalently preinstalled in Sony Vaio laptop models, though it presents a current annoyance in that its task may deter a Sony Vaio user in using a non-Sony battery, as Sony vastly recommends the use of its own batteries for its laptops. With this bearing in mind, the isbmgr.exe process was created to monitor when the user is using an original Vaio battery. Most non-Sony batteries that are being attempted to use on Sony laptops create abysmal results and inconvenience for its users. Therefore, to keep track of this problem, Sony has installed the isbmgr.exe process to all of its Vaio laptops. Upon detection of an attempted use of a non-Sony battery in a Sony laptop, the isbmgr.exe file will provide an error message stating the inauthenticity of the non-Sony battery laptop, so it is advisable for the user to use an original Sony battery for his Sony laptop.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. isbmgr.exe. is used by Sony ISB Utility, If you shut down isbmgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop isbmgr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Sony ISB Utility, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Sony ISB Utility, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application.
