Windows NT I/O port driver or IO_Memory is the service name of the process called as ioport.sys, which is a type of a driver (SYS) file, and is a component of the software product branded as IOPort, which is designed and produced by Erik Salaj. Like other computer files or modules, the ioport.sys process is installed onto the computer during the download process of the program that houses it. Also, it is able to run in the background of the system, a Windows computer system, or commonly known as Microsoft Windows Operating System, or Windows operating system, or Windows OS, such as Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME. It is recommended to keep the ioport.sys file remain active and running, unless it is causing problems or errors that affect the performance of the computer system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ioport.sys. is used by IOPort, If you shut down ioport.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ioport.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is IOPort, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as IOPort, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
