What is  inotask.exe

The background task installed through inotask.exe is also known as inotask.exe. This is part of the software called eTrust Antivirus, which is antivirus software from Computer Associates. The file loads a process that enables the antivirus program to run scheduled scans as well as search and install updates for the AV software. The file is pre-set to run upon startup and run in the background when connected to the Internet so it can search for updates. However, most users have opted to disable the file from launching upon startup, and also running in the background as it has been determined to consume almost a hundred percent of system resources. Users instead perform the scans manually and also manually look for updates. However, since this is part of an antivirus program, it is generally not recommended that the file be disabled unless causing system problems. The file’s standard location on disk is C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust Antivirus\inotask.exe.
