The file idmmkb.dll, known as Internet Download Manager module, belongs to software Internet Download Manager from Tonec. Internet download manager (IDM) is software for managing and accelerating downloads from the Internet. IDM is a solution for increasing download speed by as much as five times and has the capability to restart broken or interrupted downloads due to network problems, computer shutdown or lost connection. This program utilizes a smart download logic accelerator that features dynamic file segmentation and safe multipart downloading technology that accelerates downloads. It segments downloaded files dynamically during download process and reuses available connections without additional connect and login stages to achieve best acceleration performance. IDM supports proxy servers, redirects, firewalls, ftp and http protocols, cookies, authorization, MP3 audio, and MPEG video content processing. Other features include multilingual support, download categories, queue processor, zip preview, and enhanced virus protection upon download completion.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. idmmkb.dll. is used by Internet Download Manager Module, If you shut down idmmkb.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop idmmkb.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Internet Download Manager Module, from your system.
