The file httpdl.exe is a process in the software Orbit Downloader, which is a download manager for the downloading of music, video, and streaming media from the Internet. It enables the user to manage download files easily with the tag function, which groups all download files by the tags used to identify them. Clicking on a tag will filter the tagged download files, and removing the tags is not necessary once the download has been completed. This downloader is based on P2P and multi-source downloading technology with a more efficient mirrors selection algorithm that allows faster downloads. It supports most of the file-sharing service websites, including sendspace, badongo, megaupload, yourfilehost, sexuploader, filefront, filefactory, and many more. This application has a simple and clear user interface that is configurable, and uses less than 3 MB of memory with an installation package that is less than 2 MB.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. httpdl.exe. is used by Orbit Downloader, If you shut down httpdl.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop httpdl.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Orbit Downloader, from your system.
