The modeling feature of Houdini includes all standard geometry entities like Bezier curves, polygons, hierarchical NURBs (non-uniform rational b-splines), metaballs, trims and patches. It employs keyframed animation, raw channel manipulation (CHOPs), and motion capture support, and lighting that uses node-based shader authoring, lighting and re-lighting in an IPR viewer. Compositing is done with a full compositor of floating-point and deep-layered images. Houdini supports a variety of renderers that include mental ray, Mantra: Renderman, and various 3D party supports.
