The hpswp_framework.dll file is a process called HP Smart Web Printing [Framework] add-on for Internet Explorer that is part of the application HP Smart Web Printing that is created by Hewlett-Packard Company. This process does not have a visible window. It has a digital signature certified by VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer. It can control or alter the behavior of Internet Explorer. It is not a core file for Windows. This dynamic link library [DLL] file is a BHO or browser helper object that automatically executes when you launch the Internet browser. Personal firewalls often do not block the activitiesof BHOs because the firewall detects the BHO as the browser itself. This is one reason why malware such as adware and spyware often use BHOs. HP Smart Web Printing is an application that lets you save ink and paper by letting you print only the content that you want from a Web page or pages. It enables users of Internet Explorer 6.0 to print Web pages with no cut-off edges by adjusting the Web content automatically to fit a standard size page. You can modify, arrange and choose clips from Web pages before printing. You can highlight content such as graphics, text and images from Web pages and print those selections in your preferred order.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpswp_framework.dll. is used by HP Smart Web Printing, If you shut down hpswp_framework.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hpswp_framework.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HP Smart Web Printing, from your system.
