The hpswp_bho.dll file is a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) module that is used by the HP Smart Web Printing module, which is bundled with the HP Photo and Imaging applet. The HP Photo and Imaging program is normally packaged with the firmware and driver software components of supported HP devices, and the HP Smart Web Printing module is built into the HP Photo and Imaging application. The program logic data that is stored in the hpswp_bho.dll module is referenced by the HP Photo and Imaging program when the user needs to access some of the features associated with the HP Smart Web Printing module, in order for the HP Photo and Imaging applet to load the HP Smart Web Printing module unto the system and to implement those requested functionalities into the HP Photo and Imaging software. The hpswp_bho.dll file, the HP Smart Web Printing module and the HP Photo and Imaging software are implemented with compatibility support for widely used versions of Microsoft Windows.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpswp_bho.dll. is used by HP Smart Web Printing and HP Photo and Imaging, If you shut down hpswp_bho.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hpswp_bho.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HP Smart Web Printing and HP Photo and Imaging, from your system.
