Hppusg.exe is the process file for Hewlett-Packard color-monitoring service software, a support program for HP brand color printers used by printing business owners. It works in three ways to effective and cost-efficient control of color-access: 1) Monitoring & Awareness – providing users with the ability to control and track the use of color by the tools in the user interface where color quality and corrective use can be configured. These tools offer options to identify underuse and overuse of colors, analysis, and smart decision-making as to when and where to reorder supplies. 2) Color Management – for black-and-white printing services such as e-mail copies, long documents, and non-color printing preferences. 3) Job Tracking & Billing – enables the user to determine the cost of color printing to a specific user, workgroup, or client, and billing it accordingly. The ability to calculate the cost of color printing to specific jobs enables the user to know the profitability of the printing service.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hppusg.exe. is used by HP Usage Tracking, If you shut down hppusg.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hppusg.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HP Usage Tracking, from your system.
