The hpdisply.exe file is the process called hpdisply that is part of the application Hewlett-Packard HpDisplay Settings created by Hewlett-Packard. This program runs when you boot Windows. It uses the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. It is not a core file for Windows that means the operating system can run without requiring this process. The hpdisply.exe file has no digital signature. This process automatically executes on local machine for autorun registry entries or on running processes. A file with an EXE extension pertains to an executable file or program on OS/2, Windows, Symbian, DOS and OpenVMS operating systems. Aside from the executable program, various EXE files have components called resources like icons and bitmaps that the executable program can use for its GUI [graphical user interface]. Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpdisply.exe. is used by Hewlett-Packard HpDisplay Settings, If you shut down hpdisply.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hpdisply.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hewlett-Packard HpDisplay Settings, from your system.
