The file hpdevicehost.exe, known as HP DCS Device Host, belongs to software HP Device Communication Services by Hewlett-Packard. The HP Device Communication Services, also known as Knex, is installed into the computer when the user downloads HP Easy Printer Care software from the Web. The HP Device Communication Services carries product-specific plug-ins that are installed whenever HP Device Communication Services is installed. The location of the installed program and its associated plug-ins is in Program Files\Common Files\HP Device Communication Services. The MSI file components of this utility are the operating system communication components, core communication components, data communication components, and events communication components. MSI are files that are used for storage, installation, and removal of programs that are contained in a package, which is used with the program's client-side installer service, an exe file, to open and install the program. The plug-ins for the HP Device Communication Services maps the PML elements to XDM elements for a printer family.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpdevicehost.exe. is used by HP Device Communication Services, If you shut down hpdevicehost.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hpdevicehost.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HP Device Communication Services, from your system.
