The executable process file hkwnd.exe (version 4, 1, 1, and 6260) is identified as Hotkey Client that is part of the software Hotkey Client or Hotkey Utility as developed by the company Sony Corporation. The process file is also identified as VAIO Hotkey Utility for Sony Laptop volume Light, and Zoom Control Software. The process file is a non-essential process which permits the configuration for particular keys on the range of laptops. The process file is found to be running in the Task Manager as the process hkwnd.exe with a file size on Windows 7 or XP of 266,240 bytes (19% of all incidences), 274,432 bytes and 7 other variants. The process file is found to be located in the subfolder of C:\Program Files (most commonly in C:\Program Files\Sony\Hotkey Utility). The process file hkwnd.exe is not visible and is neither considered as a Windows core file.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hkwnd.exe. is used by Hotkey Client, If you shut down hkwnd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hkwnd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hotkey Client, from your system.
