What is  hkserv.exe

The hkserv.exe is a process that is part of the HotKey Server or the HotKey Utility software. This process is responsible in the configurations and access to Sony Hot Key. Hkserv.exe is installed in specific Sony laptops. It contains a built-in management mechanism and functions as a keyboard background utility program. If hkserv.exe is not installed, there are function keys which cannot operate properly. The hkserv.exe process is able to set a specific key to activate a particular function. For example, the function key 7 can be used to capture a screenshot, instead of using the combination of three keys like the Fn, Alt and Printscreen. It also offers running task access and other functions namely shutdown, restart and other basic applications. It can enable a button to minimize several windows all at once. Experienced users can activate a selected text which comes from a specific command string. Hkserv.exe can also define all parameters and launch others actions.
