The hffext.dll file is a process that is used by the application Hide Files and Folders developed by Softstack.com. This process is not visible. It is not a system process. A DLL [dynamic link library] file is an application that has functions that can be used by other programs. It can control or alter the behavior of other programs. It has a mechanism for shared code and data that enables a developer to improve the functions of a program without the need to recompile or re-link. Hide Files & Folders version 3.5 lets you hide and protect your folders and files, protect any program with a password and disable Internet access. It is a password-protected security tool working at kernel level on Windows. It lets you hide your folders and files to secure them from being searched or viewed. It does not change your media. It uses VXD driver working at kernel level to guarantee that you do not lose data. You can also protect system folders and files such as registry, Windows system and swap files.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hffext.dll. is used by Hide Files and Folders, If you shut down hffext.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hffext.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hide Files and Folders, from your system.
