The hdspmix.exe file is the process called Hammerfall DSP Mixer that is used by the application Hammerfall DSP created by RME. This program uses an icon on the taskbar. It has a visible window. It is not a core file for Windows. The hdspmix.exe process can record inputs. Hammerfall DSP System is created for notebooks and desktops. It allows you to upgrade the CardBus interface of a portable computer to mobile high-speed or high-end audio system with a maximum of 26 tracks and latency of 1.5 ms. Hammerfall DSP System provides fully-developed drivers such as Core MIDI and Core Audio for Mac OS X and ASIO multi-client operation including MME, ASIO 2.0 and GSIF 2.0 for Windows XP/2000. This new hardware supports hardware updates through software. This system supports hot-plugging. You can connect or disconnect I/O box and card without the need to reboot your computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hdspmix.exe. is used by Hammerfall DSP, If you shut down hdspmix.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hdspmix.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hammerfall DSP, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Hammerfall DSP, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
