The hdinspector.exe file is the process used by the application Hard Drive Inspector created by Altrixsoft or Altrix Software Ltd. This program uses an icon on the taskbar. It is not a core file for Windows. It can monitor programs and record inputs. This process file has a digital signature from Altrix Software Ltd with certificate issued by COMODO Time Stamping Signer or from AltrixSoft Ltd with certificate issued by VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer – G2. Hard Drive Inspector is a software that monitors the health of your computer and prevents system crash or hard disk recovery at high costs. It prevents data loss caused by hard drive failure. It utilizes the S.M.A.R.T. [Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology] in modern hard drives that detect possible disk failures. It checks the critical parameters that determine the performance and reliability of a disk using this technology.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hdinspector.exe. is used by Hard Drive Inspector, If you shut down hdinspector.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hdinspector.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hard Drive Inspector, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
